Puppetry Project

20210610_174435.jpg

Our first lessons were on self-portraits and how to turn them into caricature style artwork, with learning how to exaggerate different features and to still make it look like the original character. This was challenging to pick out what features to exaggerate and how much to exaggerate them by.

Once we had done this and has our final design we started to create the basic skull shape out of clay before covering it in foil and molding the warbler to the clay skull structure.

Design and build a complete Glove Puppet from scratch that is based on oursleves! Before developing a short individual performance. We will have practical lessons teaching us how to understand and put into practice warbler the main material for the project. The Puppets will be based on portraits of ourselves and finally will be used for a short-filmed performance that will be presented to the year 2 Theatre Design students. We will have a small demonstration of pattern making and hand sewing to create the basic costume for the puppet head that we have created in a charicatrue style.

On the left is a gallery of the making processes from the sketches and caricatures, to making the skull out of warbler and the costume making.

After the construction of the puppet, we had to create a script and performance for the hand glove puppet as if it was for an actual show. The brief for the performance was covid and covid dreams.

I focused mine on events I went through in the first lockdown of covid 19 in march 2020.
