Nottingham Trent University:

Main Module

This is your major module, and so will lots of your time be given to this. You can expect a mix of online and face-to-face elements, including face-to-face supported studio practice, group tutorials via Teams and face to face, online briefings, and a variety of other digital content. In DTLP we encourage collaboration and interaction with your peers - peer learning and support is an essential element of university life. To facilitate this, you will enjoy studio and workshop time together and sometimes be given group tasks. You will be encouraged to use your voice to comment on your own work and the work of others, offering constructive criticism and suggestions in group tutorials. In addition to the DTLP design projects contained in this module, you will work in mixed groups of students from the other pathways in Design for Stage & Screen to complete a live project. On other occasions, you will take part in short one-off collaborative challenges set by the School of Art & Design, involving students from all creative disciplines. Further, you will be assigned a student mentor from a higher year whom you will meet in person and whom you can call on for support. You can arrange additional Teams meetings with others in your group as wished throughout the module.

For this Design for Theatre and Live Performance pathway, Totie Driver is module lead and Year 1 Tutor. She is a professional set and costume designer who has worked in theatre, film, and television for more than half her life. Totie is also a Theatre Design NTU alumni and has spent her career designing large-scale musicals internationally, winning awards and encouraging young designers through education and mentorship. She is thrilled and honoured to return to NTU to share her professional knowledge and experiences with the next generation of stage designers and visionary's.

"I'm a very strong believer in listening and learning from others." Ruth Bader Ginsburg
