We started learning as the first years only whilst second years were creating their models, we learnt the basics of lighting and scenic painting. With Adam, we learnt the health and safety of lighting and what the key elements are of what lights from tungsten to LED intelligence. After these skills were learnt we worked with Sarah to build up our scenic painting skills learning how to create textures such as wooden floorboards and bricks and how as little as 3 shades can create the desired outcome. We would then put these skills to use later on in the project.

This is an introduction to the core scenic craft and technical areas for the course and will focus primarily on; Set Construction, Scenic Painting, and Scenic dressing on stage a well as Lighting. This part of the process will help underpin the terminology and basic principles of stagecraft knowledge and safe working with machinery and tools. You will have the opportunity to manage a small materials budget and work with industry professionals who will guide you on this construction journey. We will be working with the second years in a total of 12 people per group, 6 first years, and 6 second years to create the final outcome.

In our groups mixed with the second years, we voted on what model we thought would be the best to create for learning purposes. We voted on Ivy Richards model and deligated whose role was what, I was put on scenic decoration and props with some other first years and a couple of second years. We were tasked to do something each day and taught skills on how to create the final outcome. Over the three weeks, the model became a reality, and performance was made for the set using AV and lighting.
